At the close of the 2026 World Championships in San Francisco, Pokémon showed a new kind of card: Z Mega Evolutions. The first is Mega Lucario Z ex, shown alongside Sigilyph ex, Pokémon reports. All cards shown are still in development, so artwork and names may change. Pokémon has not yet explained how Z Mega Evolutions work in play.
Pokémon also previewed new Mega Attack Rares, cards in a comic style. They show the Mega ex forms of Darkrai, Zygarde, Greninja and Rayquaza; Serebii and PokeGuardian show the previews.
Pokémon has not said which set Mega Lucario Z ex will appear in. PokeBeach reports that it belongs to the Japanese set Aura Seeker, said to release on 27 November 2026; neither name nor date is officially confirmed. For English-language markets, Delta Reign on 6 November is the next announced set.
