With Pokémon Team Masters, Pokémon introduced a new tournament format for the card game on 28 September 2026: teams of three play against each other instead of individuals, Serebii reports. The first event takes place on 23 and 24 January 2027 at KINTEX, the exhibition centre in Goyang near Seoul.
How the format works
Each team registers three decks, and no Pokémon name may appear in more than one of them – a team that wants Gardevoir ex has to agree who plays it. In each round the three members play at the same time against one opponent each; if at least two win, the round and three points go to their team, GoNintendo explains. Swapping cards or decks between teammates is not allowed. Day 1 is played as Swiss, and teams with five or more wins advance to Day 2, according to Inven Global.
Registration and prizes
There is room for about 670 teams, roughly 2,000 players. Entry is free, applications close on 23 October 2026, and if there are too many, a lottery on 13 November decides. Inven Global reports that registration is open regardless of residence, but the event is aimed at the Asian circuit; teams from Europe should confirm with the organiser before planning travel.
