McDonald's is set to put trading cards back into Happy Meals for Pokémon's 30th anniversary. In the US the promotion is planned for 5 November to 9 December 2026, PokeBeach reports, and Dexerto and others have picked up the report. Neither McDonald's nor Pokémon has announced it yet.
According to the report, each Happy Meal comes with a four-card pack. The set has 15 cards, six of them with a confetti holo finish, and all carry a McDonald's logo. Whether they are reprints of known cards is still unclear. Instead of a toy, customers can choose a Pokémon handbook; in the UK, where Happy Meals have dropped plastic, the toy is made of cardboard, Kotaku notes.
No European dates are known. Past campaigns show how much demand the cards draw: McDonald's Japan cut its last Pokémon promotion short because of resellers, and Wargamer recalls buyers who bought meals in bulk and threw the food away.
