A PSA 10 copy of the so-called Raincoat Pikachu sold for $8.4 million on 28 September 2026. The 2015 Art Academy card – Pikachu in a red raincoat, drawn by Y. Fujishima – is now the second most expensive Pokémon card ever sold at auction, Dexerto reports. Only the Pikachu Illustrator has gone higher, at $16.4 million in February 2026.
The Raincoat Pikachu was never sold in shops. It was the prize of a drawing contest for the 3DS game Pokémon Art Academy, and about 100 copies of the winning design were printed. The Fanatics Collect auction closed after 64 bids; the final price includes a 20 percent buyer's premium, which puts the hammer price at roughly $7 million.
The jump is what stands out. A PSA 10 copy sold for $12,600 in July 2024 and for $19,200 in June 2025. Little more than a year later the price is about 440 times higher – a seven-figure sum that moves the card into the small group of Pokémon trophies whose prices have little to do with the rest of the market.
